Create Your Character

In Avengard, YOU are the hero. You’ve played your favorite RPGs. You’ve created powerful characters. You’ve grown them to slay dragons, to stop mad scientists, to take down an evil king, but you’ve never pitted them against others in a push and pull matchup with other players, both perfecting play styles while trying to best one another. For years, you’ve fought as heroes, champions, gods, wishing you could be one yourself. In Avengard, that is exactly what will happen. You are the harbinger of your destiny. Will you be a giant knight? A swift-footed archer? A powerful wizard? Options are unlimited as you play as a Juggernaut, a powerful race of humans, stronger, faster, and more magical than anyone who has ever lived. You have the power to change your Juggernauts’ appearances, clothing, weapons, abilities, and base stats in an intricate web of creating your perfect character.

In the Identity tab, you’ll be able to customize your character’s name, physical appearance, and voice. These changes will be reflected in the game, and other players will recognize you by your character’s name. As a development team, we value freedom and choice. Everything from facial features and hair to the voice and personality your character commands will all be customizable.

In addition to broader character creation changes and physical appearance options, lies a deep and intuitive facial creation system. Entirely optional to players, players can take complete control of their character’s looks. With over 142 customizable facial options, creative players can dive in to truly create the character they wish to play as. Celebrities, political figures, historical figures, if they had a face, they can be recreated. We know because we’ve tried! If you’re not interested in the nuances of crafting a specific look, we’ve streamlined this process into facial feature presets where editing a character’s face entirely takes just a minute, letting you get right to the action.

There will be several voices at launch, each of them coming with a female and a male voice actor counterpart, and three personalities per voice. Players will be free to not only choose how their character sounds, but also the manner in which they say things, giving players the ability to craft their perfect ‘hero’.

Your equipment is fundamental to your gameplay… and your style! All types of gear will be available to all players, meaning everyone will be on an even playing field when it comes to gameplay. Cosmetic skins and equipment will be released for players to acquire through purchasing, random drops, achievements, and more.

Avengard will feature a three-weapon type style of play: melee, magic, and ranged. Each of these weapon types will allow different abilities.  Though many abilities will be restrictive to weapon selections, many diverse abilities will exist to ensure you can always play your way. The weapon roster will also be expanding, meaning everything from staffs and swords to bows and throwing knives will be available, but so will more creative options in the future.

When it comes to selecting your gear, your choices matter. Some armor may change your stats, and some weapons may restrict you from using certain abilities. Gear will be customizable at an individual level, meaning everything from your helmet to your boots can be changed independently. You’ll be able to mix and match heavy and light armors, so you never have to worry about investing too much in any one area. Every character is possible. Suit up!

Avengard will feature dozens of unique abilities to choose from, including passives, actives, toggle abilities, ultimates, and more. Different abilities will be available based on choices made in character customization, and all available abilities can be mixed and matched at will. If you want to have four passives or four ultimates, you can. Each character will have four ability slots to select from, and any ability can be slotted to any key. At the start of a match, all four abilities are active and available to the player.

Each ability will be broken into one of five categories: offensive, defensive, evasive, and supportive. Each ability has a branching level tree for upgrading, allowing players to customize their own abilities in-game by prioritizing different effects and enhancements. Most of these choices will involve altering how the ability works, augmenting the ability’s non-damaging effects, or buffing the damage or healing.

Some abilities may also be restricted to your gear. For instance, a shield bash will only be available if a shield is equipped, and shooting arrows would require a bow. Some abilities will be restricted in order to allow players to easily understand what enemies are capable of from a distance, such as limiting creating a massive lightning storm to only characters wielding a staff. This system is being designed to provide an immersive freedom for players, allowing you to customize your character however you see fit, while remaining true to the gameplay.
