Towns Instead of Towers

Towers are being expanded to Towns! Towns will bring in objectives to attack and defend in a variety of buildings. Each of them will have a different function, so strategizing what to target first will be important.
The barracks supply a lane with minions. Target this building to cut off the enemy’s supply!
Instead of needing to return to spawn for healing, clinics provide a powerful passive heal to out-of-combat players when inside towns. Destroying the clinic will cut off an enemy’s sustainability, and force them to retreat.
The Avengard map will be large, but easier to navigate thanks to teleports. These will allow players to instantly travel to other ally teleport locations to retreat, reinforce other lanes, and quickly get across the map.
Shops will be available out in the field! No need to go back – you can now purchase items within towns, speeding up the game and your path to victory.
The Armory is an important defensive building that will provide a stat buff to all allies within the town. As long as this building stands, taking down Juggernauts will be much more difficult.
No MOBA would be complete without towers! Two towers guard the front of every town, attacking nearby enemies.

Today, most competitive multiplayer games use a system called an “Engagement Matchmaking System.” Studies showed that matchmaking based on fairness is not optimal for player engagement, so the systems prioritize psychological strategies to get you playing longer, more often. These systems do not consider player skills, and sometimes even punish you for winning or losing too many games in a row.
Our matchmaking system will prioritize fairness for players. Instead of sheer engagement, our system will identify how a player performs in-game using a series of high-end analytical statistics. Moving up or down on the matchmaking and ranked ladder will be heavily linked to the player’s performance in the match, regardless of team performance. While winning and losing is still important, our goal is to reward skilled players even when they don’t win the game.

NPCs will roam out-of-bounds areas, doing everything from forging weapons, to hunting, to holding conversation. Scenes, as we have dubbed them, will replace many obstacles and barriers, showing a world where people live, each one with their own story.
Avengard is a story-driven game. The world is ever changing, following an expansive and massive story arc guiding the Juggernauts. In your games, you may find codex entries, hidden skins, and other secrets. There will also be a living journal, where news from both inside the world of Avengard, and from the development team, will be accessible to players.
As the seasons progress and we visit new nations, the map will change too. Scene stories will evolve and change as time goes on, and the map will adapt to the new sceneries. You may see new jungle camps, a tragic story unfold in the scenes, and other dynamic events. Some nations will be forested, icy, cityscapes, and even underground.
Instead of a classic menu, the Tavern will be where your characters come to unwind between games. It’ll be dynamic and life-like, with customizable music and chatter. Here, you’ll be able to use the shop, customize characters, and explore more of the world.
