Meridian

The Golden Dragon

After years of drought, rebellions, and war, a critical time came for the Senvian Empire’s economy. So, by decree of the Novadus, 17th Emperor of the Senvian Empire, a portion of Durian territory was to be seized and reallocated to a new nation – Meridian. The land wasn’t used for farming, living, hunting, and had no cultural significance to the Durians. It angered them, but in time, their anger abated, and Meridian assumed, went forgotten.

Through gold and opportunity, Meridian came to be a beacon of immigration. It was a new era, led by wealth and advancement. Even magic changed, with new spells and methods creating dancing fires and spectacles of light. With magic came culture, and then art, poetry, and tourism. In the blink of an eye, an entire city was built, with industry and housing for all. There were even parks and natural areas, where magic was an joyful attraction. Meridian had become just as much of a focal point as the capital itself.

In the thirty-seventh year of Meridian’s existence, the city-state of Senvia, capital of the Senvian Empire, vanished. In its place were nothing but the seaside cliffs and the wind. In an instant, the continent turned to war, and Meridian, not having the population to support an army, turned to gold to fund its defences. It delved deeper into Duria’s forests for the same wealth that had brought its prosperity, now seeking it for war. Duria retaliated, and war came for them both.
